Centre of Paediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics Studies is consists of two specialties – Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics.

Paediatric Dentistry
The major emphasis of Paediatric Dentistry programme is to train student the basic concepts and principles of paediatric dentistry patients including diagnosis and treatment planning, recognize growth and development that leads to dental health problem in infant, children and adolescents.
The scope will be based on the concept of providing dental care as part of the promotion of general health for the child and will cover growth and development, patient management, the prevention of dental disease, overall treatment planning, restorative treatment, care of patients with special needs, and the interceptive treatment of dento-facial abnormalities.
The course will consist of lectures, seminar, PBL, simulation, clinical demonstration and clinical session during the third, fourth, and fifth year. Dental care for paediatric patients is available in two separate settings – Paediatric Dentistry’s general clinic and Paediatric Specialist clinic. The students are treating paediatric patient at the Paediatric Dentistry’s general clinic under close supervision of the Paediatric Dental Specialists. We also will be offering postgraduate training (DClinDent in Paediatric Dentistry) for graduates in dental surgery who wish to specialize in Paediatric Dentistry. Paediatric dentists have special training, which allows them to provide the most current and thorough treatment for a wide variety of children’s dental problem including special need patients.

The Paediatric Specialist clinic services are provided in our postgraduate teaching clinic, to train dentists who are specializing in Paediatric Dentistry. We provide consultation, evaluation, dental treatment and prevention for children with special needs, behaviour problem, and medically compromised children at the Paediatric Specialist Clinic.

Orthodontics
Orthodontics is a discipline in dentistry that concerned with the growth and development of the jaws and face particularly, and the body generally, and their influence to the position of the teeth. The aim of Orthodontics treatment is creation of possible occlusal relationship within framework of accepted facial aesthetic & stability of end results.
The Orthodontic programme for undergraduate is intended to engender an interest in orthodontics by exposing the student to different forms of orthodontic treatment in order to gain an appreciation of the use of different types of orthodontic appliances. It covers seminar and clinical instruction in orthodontic theory, practice as well as PBL sessions to improve self-directed and group learning skills in orthodontics. Besides, the students are expected to perform final year project concerning their interest in orthodontics.
The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics is a 4-year postgraduate programme. The aim of this programme is to prepare graduate students to become a registered Orthodontist who are capable of diagnosing and treating any malocclusion of the teeth requiring comprehensive management.  Patients presenting with a wide range of malocclusions are treated by graduate student under Orthodontist’s supervision at the Orthodontics Specialist Clinic.
