The Centre of PreClinical Science Studies provides multi-disciplinary knowledge of basic medical and oral sciences. Encompassing anatomy (gross and histology), physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology (bacteriology, virology and immunology) and pharmacology, as well as the oral biology components, our students are provided with a solid educational background in basic medical and oral health-related sciences, while providing the foundation courses required by them before proceeding to their clinical studies. |

The centre is dedicated to prepare students with interest in human health to be competitive graduate or professional in health professions. The centre provides a comprehensive educational background in basic medical and oral health-related sciences that cover the foundation courses required prior the clinical years. Our faculty delivers the highest quality of undergraduate teaching, incorporating learning, research, and professionalism, to create educated future oral health leaders to improve the oral health and medical needs of the community. |

Courses / Programme Offered

Research

The centre currently responsible for pre-requisite foundation courses of various programmes offered by the Faculty of Dentistry. At the moment, we are involved in the teaching of undergraduates for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), and also postgraduates for all the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) programmes. In the near future, we will also cater for Bachelor of Oral Health and other taught PhD courses of DClinDent. Below are the two main courses offered by the centre: |
The centre has broad research opportunities for graduates and post-doctoral research. The research interests of the centre spans from neuroscience, herbal medicine, cardiovascular and endocrine related diseases such as hypertension and diabetes mellitus studies, stem cell, cancer and oncology, to cellular and molecular immunology. We are equipped with relevant advances for our current and future postgraduate students under Master of Dental Science and PhD by research, and always up-to-date with new techniques and technology available. |
